Why we have quit selling SNURK Wash Sheets

Why we have quit selling SNURK Wash Sheets

Following a recent episode of Dutch tv-show De Keuringsdienst van Waarde (15 December 2025) about laundry sheets, we took another critical look at the ingredients of our SNURK Wash Sheets. The programme highlighted that many laundry sheets contain a plastic binding agent: PVA.

PVA is legally permitted, but in practice it turns out to be a grey area.

We have confirmed that our Wash Sheets contain 1–4% PVA. By comparison, soluble laundry pods often contain 10–30% PVA. This means the percentage in our Wash Sheets is relatively low, which is positive. At the same time, the product was presented to us by the manufacturer as fully sustainable, safe and water-soluble. Legally, this is correct, but the broadcast made us realise that legally permitted does not always mean the right choice.

These kinds of loophole practices do not align with how we want to operate as a brand.

For this reason, we have decided to stop selling SNURK Wash Sheets with immediate effect and to take the product offline.

It is important to emphasise that the product poses no risk to your health or your laundry and remains a more sustainable option than liquid detergent in plastic bottles. This decision is therefore not a safety issue, but a principled choice.

Our understanding of PVA was too superficial, and we placed too much trust in the manufacturer and in legislation. Now that we know better, we want to do better.

Thank you for your understanding.
